What is u3a?

U3a is a UK-wide collection of 1000+ charities that provide the opportunity for those no longer in work to come together and learn for fun.

Bramhall u3a

Our monthly meetings are  held at the Bramhall United Reformed Church, Robins Lane on the 3rd Thursday of the month at 2.00pm. With a current active membership of around 900 and with over 50 activity groups up and running, everyone finds activities to join.

Members keep in touch via our newsletter. We also have a Facebook group for members and there are several WhatsApp groups.

You can do as much or as little as you like – and if you’ve a particular skill or interest which isn’t covered, you are welcome to start a new group.

Groups meet in people’s homes, outdoors, in sports centres and local meeting rooms, depending on the activity.

Regular outings to interesting places, concert halls and theatres, along with holidays and short breaks take place and are always popular

Our History

Bramhall u3a was launched in November 2009. The suggestion for our local group came from Cheadle Hulme U3A which had a long waiting list.

Our first meeting was attended by over 200 people. From that meeting, the steering committee was formed and in January 2010 the inaugural meeting was held with Dorothy Chesterman as the first Chair.
