This group is for keen gardeners wishing to make the most of their gardens month by month. Members will contribute to this practical hands on gardening by sharing good practise, and finding solutions to problems.
The gardening group has remained active during lockdown through the establishment of a Whats App group & through Zoom meetings. In fact we are more active than normal with 4 meetings a month available for members to join. By splitting our whole group into two smaller groups for Zoom meetings this enables a more manageable forum for group discussions .
Whereas our new Whats App group is encouraging all members to participate in mini projects such as photographing flowers & plants by a particular colour each week, growing cut flowers from seeds & comparing their development & an ongoing mystery plant competition in each of our gardens.
We have even had a very topical photo challenge where members took pictures of self isolating plants! Looking to the future we are propagating plants for a charity plant stall to be hopefully held later in the summer.

2020 Report: View
The gardening group has continued to be active throughout lockdown via:
During the summer I asked all group members to complete a review to gain feedback & see if we can improve the group in any way. I was delighted with the engagement from all members & feedback received. As part of the review I included suggestions for consideration for future activities. As a result we are planning to start some new initiatives including:
Wildflower walks ( to start hopefully in late Spring)
Garden craft practical demos
Buyers club to enable bulk orders & therefore economical purchase of garden supplies.
We also intend to undertake a couple of community initiatives when we are out of lockdown.
2019 Report: View
We are a new friendly group that started in August 2019 with men and women. We meet monthly at memberís houses & spend time in each hostís garden plus discuss a topic relevant to the gardening calendar. We discuss both vegetable and flower gardening. So far topics have included planting Spring bulbs, composting, garden pests, redesigning an existing border & plant propagation. We also discuss each monthís gardening tasks, share practical gardening experiences, recommend gardening suppliers & have anĒ unusual tip of the dayĒ. We have held two hands-on practical workshops creating winter hanging baskets & planting indoor bulbs for Christmas. Due to the meetings being held in memberís houses the group number is restricted to fourteen. We are at full capacity and our meetings are well attended each month. Future activities planned for 2020 include visiting the Kindling Trust, attending a plant auction & visiting a memberís allotment.
