2021 Annual Report: View
The Bramhall U3A book club usually meets on the 4th Thursday of each month, but thanks to COVID, we halted meetings for a while, and then got together on ZOOM. This has worked quite well, but we are now meeting face to face, lateral flow tests permitting! Members take it in turns to host the group, and we discuss a book chosen from the Stockport Library collection. They are not always that we might choose to read ourselves, but we find that even those can stimulate even more discussion and debate. Dudley Newell, Chair
2019 Annual Report: View
The Bramhall U3A book club meets on the 4th Thursday of each month. Members take it in turns to host the group, where possible, and we discuss a book chosen from the Stockport Library collection. The collection contains a wide range of books. In 2019, we have read, amongst others: Ian Rankin’s, Black & Blue; Shamini Flint: Inspector Singh Investigates; Vaseem Khan: The Unexpected Inheritance of Inspector Chopra; Shaffer: The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society; The Great Gatsby by Fitzgerald; and The Kashmir Shawl by Rosie Thomas. It’s a wide ranging set of books! They are not always that we might choose to read ourselves, but we find that even those can stimulate even more discussion and debate. It’s not all hard work though- we do meet for a Christmas lunch in early December! Dudley Newell, Chair
