The badminton group now consists of up to 16 members. We are a mixed ability group who enjoy meeting up for exercise and social interaction each Tuesday between 1.15 and 3.45 pm. We play in the large ground floor hall at the Community Centre on Lumb Lane in Bramhall.
We play doubles as there is only one court, but usually manage to get at least 5 games each during the session. We would like to trial starting at 1pm for beginners who wish to receive some coaching, or just to come along to see if it is something to try. The beginners session would be for the first half an hour, but new players could stay for the full session if they wish. Please email the Co-ordinator (details above) if you would like to give it a try.
We play for 50 weeks of the year, having a break over the Christmas and New Year period.
We arrange two social outings for a meal each year, one in the summer and the other, usually, just after Christmas.
The price for the sessions is usually £3.
December 2017 Report: View
The group has a steady cohort now of between 8 and 15 members. We meet on Tuesday at the
community centre on Lumb Lane between 1.15pm and 3.45pm. We have extended the hours slightly
to enable more games to be played when we have larger numbers. We are a mixed ability group who
enjoy the exercise and the social aspect of a regular group.
At present the only time we have a break during the year is over Christmas and New Year. We have two social meals out during the year - in the summer and during the Christmas/New year period, which are always fully attended and thoroughly enjoyed.
For a trial period, we aim to start at 12.45pm to enable any new members who wish to join but have not played before or not for a long time, to come along early and receive some instruction before deciding to stay for a longer session to either watch or to join in as they wish. Carolyn Johnson
