The lockdown meant we haven't met for a while, but now in 2022 we intend to resume our activities. As you can see by the video on the left, we have achieved a lot already So far, the photos below show that our adventures have included Archery at Bruntwood, Canoeing on Rudyard Lake where we all got soaked due to a downpour towards the end of a lovely afternoon, Caving in the Peak district, Hovercrafting at Frodsham & Climbing in Bredbury. 2022 has see us all raring to go again with Curling at the Flower Bowl, Preston. Stay in touch. You would be very welcome if you wish to join us. |
Summer 2022
In May, four members booked into the Flower Bowl, Preston for a spot of Curling. This involved launching about 40lbs of granite nearly 140 ft from a Hack into a House. Very enjoyable it was too.
Summer 2019
This summer saw the group try their hand at canoeing and caving.
April 2019
Seven adventurers went to Bruntwood Park in Cheadle to try our hand (or arm) at archery on 10/4/19. We had excellent tutoring from the ‘Bowmen of Bruntwood’ and spent an enjoyable 2 hours trying to hit ‘gold’ on the targets. All of us managed this at some point.
August 2018
This August 10 members of our SCRUFF group took to Segway riding in Rushton Spencer. We all
had a great time with only a couple of falls, but thankfully no
injuries. Although there was some trepidation during the instruction period it wasn't long before we were all 'going for it' on the course.
June 2018
Our latest adventure was 'Go Ape' with 6 intrepid adventurers going for
it! Three of us managed to complete the course whilst the other three
got 2/3 of the way round before calling it a day. We were scrambling up
rope ladders, crossing from tree to tree by various 'bridges' including
swinging logs, zig zag slats of wood and zip wires. We all attained our
'Amazingness Certificates'. We sometimes landed off the zip wires on our
rear ends as the picture shows. However, we gave some youngsters (20
something) who went before us a run for their money!
January 2018
This month eight intrepid adventurers went indoor flying at Ifly, Manchester. We all thoroughly enjoyed it and have the photos, videos and certificates to prove it! Great instructor and staff at Ifly. They made us very welcome. Most of us took the option of 'flying high' ie: to the top of the chamber! We all gained @white fliers' status!
Late 2017
The Adventure, SCRUFF, group had its first outing this month. A great day was had by all! Some abseiled once, some twice, and the most intrepid of us three times!! Luckily the weather was kind to us and we did not have to cancel this time. There were 10 of us altogether and no-one wimped out! Photos can also be found on the Mountain Monkeys Facebook page.
December 2019 Report: View
Our second year has been quite eventful with a number of new members joining the group. So far our adventures have included Archery at Bruntwood, Canoeing on Rudyard Lake where we all got soaked due to a downpour towards the end of a lovely afternoon, Caving in the Peak district, Hovercrafting at Frodsham & Climbing in Bredbury. The intended 'muddybuggying' did not go ahead as so few people liked the idea of getting very dirty! There is unlikely to be an event in December due to Christmas preparations, but next year will see us all raring to go again on some new adventures.
